Build mission-critical test systems for the U.S. Navy

ChaseTalent is recruiting an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the Vertical Launching System Automatic Test Equipment Engineering Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division.

In this role, you will join an engineering team responsible for designing, developing, testing, delivering, and sustaining Automatic Test Equipment and simulation systems supporting the MK 41 and MK 57 Vertical Launching System programs.

This opportunity combines hands-on electrical engineering, system-level design, software integration, technical leadership, and direct support to critical Navy weapon-system programs.

What you'll do

• Design new Automatic Test Equipment systems and other Vertical Launching System test equipment.
• Develop or oversee the control software used in new test-system designs.
• Collaborate with software engineers to deliver robust, reliable, and thoroughly tested solutions.
• Support acceptance testing, installation, checkout, troubleshooting, and repair of prototype and production test systems.
• Support test-system indoctrination, maintenance, and operator and technician training.
• Develop schematics, diagrams, specifications, and other documentation supporting prototype and experimental electronic systems.
• Oversee the fabrication and assembly of prototype and production electrical and electronic systems.
• Partner with technicians to resolve technical issues arising during design, fabrication, integration, and checkout.
• Direct the development of technical data packages, including manuals, procedures, drawings, and supporting documentation.
• Review designs for quality, sound engineering practices, component end-of-life risks, performance improvements, and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Document findings and provide actionable engineering recommendations.
• Redline technical data packages to capture design and implementation changes.
• Support All-Up Round Built-In-Test systems and other launcher and canister test equipment.
• Mentor junior government and contractor engineers and technicians.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in electronic hardware and software design.
• Strong background in analog and digital hardware design at the system level.
• Advanced knowledge of AC and DC measurement techniques in laboratory and ATE environments.
• Strong understanding of Automatic Test Equipment architecture.
• Excellent electronic troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
• PCB design experience, including the application of design rules for signal integrity and low-noise power distribution.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with National Instruments PXI or PXIe hardware.
• Experience with LabVIEW.
• Experience working in UNIX, Linux, and Windows environments.
• Proficiency with system programming languages such as C++, C#, or Visual Basic.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy Information Assurance requirements and procedures.
• FPGA development experience using Verilog or VHDL.
• Microcontroller design and programming experience.
• Experience with Perl or Python, particularly for hardware control.
• Previous experience supporting Navy test equipment, weapon systems, launch systems, or similar defense programs.

• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
• Valid driver's license for potential travel within the continental United States.
• Current U.S. passport for possible international travel.

Compensation and benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $101,648.64 to $152,472.96 annually. Final compensation will be determined by the client based on education, experience, technical competencies, contract requirements, and other applicable factors.
